From the Director

Greetings,

2020 was daunting for our nation and world. The COVID-19 pandemic forced leaders and citizens alike to face new challenges and an uncertain future. The 2020 LSU NCBRT/ACE Annual Report clearly illustrates our organization’s resilience and flexibility to deliver training and educational material when emergency responders needed them most. Throughout the year, we continually developed innovative training methods and new content. We also adapted many existing resources to ensure our courses remained timely and relevant for responders and public health personnel.

In addition to our national work as a premier training partner for the Department of Homeland Security through FEMA’s National Training and Education Division, we increased international engagement in support of the U.S. Department of State. A team of our subject matter experts developed a new partnership with the Louisiana Office of Public Health in order to help develop Louisiana’s COVID-19 vaccination distribution plan. We also continued working with the Louisiana Department of Education to increase school safety and preparedness, helping to protect the state’s K-12 students.

Alongside our partners, LSU NCBRT/ACE wholeheartedly strives to meet our vision to reduce threats to human safety, security and critical infrastructure globally. I am confident that LSU NCBRT/ACE is a global asset with a unique ability to proactively create forward-thinking solutions to some of the world’s most challenging problems.

I want to express my thanks and congratulations to all of LSU NCBRT/ACE’s outstanding employees for tackling the challenges of 2020 head-on with world-class innovation, productivity and Fighting Tiger spirit! Together we will continue to influence, develop, and deliver specialized training and education, providing the skills necessary to prepare for, respond to, and recover from complex threats and high-consequence events.
